Katari Veera Surasundarangi is the first full length 3D film in Kannada cinema. The film was shot in 3D. During the making, the film drew a lot of positive attention from the other film industries after the makers used seven cameras at a time during the shoot which was a first for a regional industry. The film is one of the biggest openers of Kannada cinema and had broken many records upon its release. The film was declared the second highest grossing film of the year 2012.

The film is a mythological romantic fantasy film. The protagonist of the film dies in a gang war and reaches heaven after his death. Thereupon he falls in love with the daughter of Lord Indra and faces the challenges of the other Gods to marry the love of his life. In the end, the film goes on to show the power of true love and how it can conquer even the toughest challenges created by God themselves.
