NEOM is the flagship project of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. A vast destination designed to welcome and celebrate the world’s athletes, sports enthusiasts and thrill seekers. NEOM was announced to the public on October 24, 2017, by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The extreme sports event held in April 2019 included a group of international as well as local athletes ranging from rock climbers, base jumpers to para gliders who performed their respective sports activities in an area measuring 26,500 square kilometres (which is the current area of NEOM) in front of a live audience. One of the main requirement was to film these sports activities and live stream them onto an LED screen set up on the ground for the spectators. The footage was captured via 3 different sources – Canon 5D, RED Epic on a drone & Go Pro Hero 5. The main challenge was that NEOM is a fairly new region and hence does not have any internet services.
As a Producer for NEEDaFIXER, I oversaw the complete post production requirements of the event and was in-charge of providing the technical support on ground. I researched, booked & managed the team that was responsible for executing the complete technical pipeline to ensure the success of the event. During the pre-production & activation of the event, I along with my team strived to remove each possible bottleneck from a post-production perspective, work towards the best, uncompromised, cost-effective solution and ensured a smooth & successful execution of the whole event without any technical glitches in presence of the members from the royal kingdom.
